1. |
Oxygen flows into vaporizer |
|
2. |
Vaporizer (A) precisely blends Oxygen and
Isoflurane |
|
3. |
Vaporizer outputs anesthetizing gas to the
manifold (B) |
|
4. |
Manifold outputs one gas line into flow meter (C)
which outputs gas to the host cage for
anesthetizing induction |
|
5. |
Manifold outputs a second gas line to the
breathing device (D). Two additional outputs allow
simultaneous use of multiple breathing devices |
|
6. |
Breathing device supplies anesthetic gas into a
non-rebreathing nosecone custom designed for small
animals. The breathing unit allows precise
vertical and angle adjustment of nosecone |
|
7. |
Temperature-controlled water pump (E) supplies
heat to the heated surgical bed (F) and the cage
warmer unit (G) |
|
8. |
Animals are initially anesthetized in the host
cage (H) and then transferred to the surgical bed
for procedures. Animal's home cage may also be
used as an alternative to the host cage |
|
9. |
Isoflurane is captured by air filter canisters (I)
on both the host cage and the breathing unit to
assure personnel safety. System may also operate
with an in-house scavenging unit |
|
10. |
When
anesthesia work is completed, the system can be
flushed by turning off the vaporizer and fully
opening up the Oxygen flow |
